Luke Humphries has revealed what he told Luke Littler immediately after beating him in the Premier League Darts final on Thursday night.

Humphries lifted the Premier League crown for the first time following an 11-8 win over Littler at London’s O2 Arena.

Earlier in the night, he defeated Nathan Aspinall 10-7, winning the final three legs to secure victory.

Humphries lost to Littler in the final of last year’s event – the first time both players had ever competed in the Premier League.

Now, they are undisputedly the two top players on planet darts, with Humphries securing the latest triumph in a final between the pair.

After winning the match, they had a short embrace on stage ahead of teaming together at the World Cup of Darts next month.

And speaking in his post-match press conference, Humphries revealed what he told Littler.

“I said to him on the stage,” Humphries began. “I said I’m really happy to win this, but I’m sure he’ll get me back many times in the future.

“Of course, it was nice to share the stage again, and it’s just another final in the Luke and Luke saga.”

He then explained what he did differently to last year’s defeat against Littler to inspire him to victory this time around.

“When I came back from winning against Nathan, I took a lot of time out,” he said. “I didn’t actually practice much inbetween.

“Once I’d come back, I probably threw nine or 12 darts in the 20 minutes that I got.

“I got there four hours before, did all my practice regime, played 17 legs of high quality darts. I don’t think me practicing for 20 minutes straight is going to do anything different or help me out in any way in the final.

“Just relaxed a bit more, gave myself a bit of time to sit down. I was a bit tired in that first half but that gave me energy afterwards and I felt a lot better.”
