The group, originally named Raw Soul, gained prominence in the 1970s and became known for hits like “Before I Let Go,” “Happy Feelin’s,” and “Joy and Pain.” Their music, characterized by soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics, resonated with audiences and solidified their place in music history.
Beverly passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 77. Following his passing, the band continued to honor his legacy through performances and tributes. In May 2025, Maze performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, marking their first performance since Beverly’s death.
