Los Angeles, CA — In a heartwarming turn of events, Maureen McCormick — beloved actress best known for her iconic role as Marcia Brady on The Brady Bunch — has announced a monumental donation of $25.5 million to fund the creation of a comprehensive homeless shelter and rehabilitation center in downtown Los Angeles.

The center, which will be named “Marcia’s Place,” will offer safe housing, mental health support, medical care, and job readiness programs for individuals experiencing homelessness in the city — a cause McCormick has quietly championed for over a decade.

⸻

“Los Angeles Has Given Me So Much — It’s Time to Give Back”

In a deeply emotional press conference held outside Los Angeles City Hall, McCormick, now 68, addressed reporters and community leaders:

“I spent my entire life and career in this city. I’ve seen it grow, I’ve seen its beauty — but I’ve also seen the pain of those left behind. This isn’t just about a shelter. It’s about dignity, love, and a second chance.”

She went on to thank her late parents for instilling a sense of compassion early on, and cited her personal journey through recovery and resilience as one of the driving forces behind the donation.

⸻

A Lifeline for Thousands

Set to open in spring 2026, Marcia’s Place will be a 24-hour facility that includes:

• 300 private and semi-private housing units

• A women’s and children’s wing

• Trauma-informed care and addiction counseling

• Job placement assistance and skills development

• A rooftop garden and art therapy space

The facility will also partner with local nonprofits and healthcare providers, creating what city officials are calling “a model for long-term homeless recovery.”

⸻

From Television Star to Humanitarian Icon

McCormick, who became a household name in the 1970s, has since used her platform to advocate for mental health awareness, addiction recovery, and housing justice. While her Brady Bunch days still draw nostalgia, her recent philanthropic ventures are cementing a legacy of substance and compassion.

Mayor Karen Bass, in attendance at the press announcement, called McCormick’s gift “a powerful example of what celebrity and heart can achieve when united.”

⸻

Public Reaction

Fans across social media erupted in praise, with hashtags like #MarciasPlace and #McCormickForChange trending nationwide.

One user tweeted:

“Marcia, Marcia, Marcia? More like Miracle Maureen! What an angel. 💖”

Hollywood peers, including Florence Henderson’s family and fellow Brady Bunch cast members, also expressed admiration. Barry Williams (Greg Brady) posted:

“Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. Your heart is as big as your talent, Maureen.”

⸻

Looking Ahead

In closing, McCormick shared:

“If even one person walks into Marcia’s Place feeling seen, safe, and hopeful — then this was all worth it.”

Groundbreaking is scheduled for early July, with city permits and private partnerships already in place.
