In a moment long awaited by fans and music historians alike, Metallica will be officially honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as part of the prestigious Class of 2025.
The iconic heavy metal band — known for redefining rock music and influencing generations of artists — will receive their star in a special ceremony scheduled for November 21, 2025, in front of the historic Capitol Records building on Vine Street.
A Legacy Etched in Stone (and Metal)
Metallica’s recognition comes as the band celebrates more than four decades of trailblazing music, philanthropy, and cultural impact. Formed in 1981, the group has sold over 125 million albums worldwide, won nine Grammy Awards, and performed on every continent — including Antarctica.
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president Renee Martinez called the honor “long overdue,” noting:
“Metallica didn’t just change music — they changed culture. Their sound, their story, and their staying power make them more than deserving of this permanent place in Hollywood history.”
The band’s star will be located near those of other rock greats such as Ozzy Osbourne, Motörhead, and AC/DC, symbolizing their legacy as one of the most influential acts in rock and heavy metal history.
A Ceremony Fit for Metal Royalty
The Walk of Fame ceremony will feature special guest speakers and tributes from fellow musicians, actors, and longtime friends of the band. Among those rumored to appear are Dave Grohl, Lady Gaga, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest.
All four current members — James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo — are expected to attend the unveiling, with fans gathering for what is already being described as “the most anticipated star ceremony of the decade.”
Hetfield, reacting to the news, said in a statement:
“To have Metallica’s name set in stone on Hollywood Boulevard? That’s wild. We’ve always done things our way — loud, raw, and honest. This moment means a lot to us and our fans.”
Celebrating More Than Just Music
The ceremony coincides with a wave of renewed attention on Metallica, following the success of their Netflix documentary Metal Gods: The Story of Metallica, set to release in October, and the launch of their global M72 World Tour – Encore.
In addition to their musical influence, Metallica has become known for their charitable work through the All Within My Hands Foundation, which supports education, hunger relief, and disaster response around the world. Their philanthropic efforts will also be acknowledged during the Walk of Fame festivities.
Fans Invited to Attend
The Walk of Fame event will be open to the public, with thousands expected to gather for the celebration. Organizers encourage early arrival, as space along Hollywood Boulevard is expected to be at capacity hours before the event.
Commemorative merchandise, including limited-edition Metallica Walk of Fame pins and posters, will be sold on-site and through the band’s official website.
Whether through thunderous riffs or quiet acts of giving, Metallica continues to leave their mark. Now, their legacy will shine forever in the heart of Hollywood.
