In a major recruiting victory for the Georgia Bulldogs, Mackenna Jackson, one of the most coveted prospects in the nation, has officially announced her commitment to Georgia Softball, turning down a strong push from the Texas Longhorns in the process.
Jackson, a standout shortstop and power hitter ranked among the top high school players in the country, made her decision public via social media, sending a wave of excitement through Bulldog Nation and dealing a tough blow to the Longhorns’ recruiting class.

Sources close to the recruitment say Jackson was heavily pursued by elite programs nationwide, with Texas being considered a strong favorite throughout much of the process. However, Georgia’s culture, coaching staff, and commitment to player development ultimately swayed the rising star.
Head coach Tony Baldwin has now landed yet another high-impact player, bolstering a Bulldogs program already on the rise in the SEC and nationally. Jackson’s ability to anchor the infield and produce offensively makes her a potential day-one starter and future face of the program.
