Los Angeles, CA — In a heartfelt move that’s resonating across the music and humanitarian worlds, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee has announced a $20 million donation to support homeless individuals in Los Angeles.
The donation will be funneled through a new initiative called “Fallen Angels Rise,” a foundation founded by Lee herself to fund transitional housing, mental health care, addiction recovery, and job training for the city’s growing unhoused population.
“Los Angeles gave me a career, a voice, and a place to grow,” Lee said in a press statement. “Now it’s time to give something back. No one should be sleeping on the streets while we live in luxury.”
The funds will be disbursed over five years, with the first $5 million already allocated to build a women-focused shelter in East LA, offering trauma-informed care and long-term stability programs. The initiative is expected to partner with local non-profits such as The Midnight Mission and PATH (People Assisting The Homeless).
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass praised the move, calling Lee’s contribution “a shining example of how artists can step into civic leadership and change lives.”
Fans and fellow musicians have rallied behind Lee’s announcement, with hashtags like #AmyCares and #FallenAngelsRise trending across social media platforms.
Lee, who has long been an advocate for mental health awareness, said the inspiration came from personal loss and a growing awareness of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in her city.
“This isn’t just about money,” she added. “It’s about compassion, dignity, and remembering that behind every tent or sleeping bag is a person with a story.”
A benefit concert featuring several high-profile rock and alternative artists is rumored to be in the works for early next year, with all proceeds supporting the new foundation.
