March 14, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA — In an inspiring act of compassion and social responsibility, actor Alexander Dreymon has donated $15.9 million to help fight homelessness in Los Angeles, one of the cities most deeply affected by the crisis.
Best known for his starring role as Uhtred in the acclaimed series The Last Kingdom, Dreymon said the donation comes from a place of gratitude and a deep personal calling to make a lasting difference in a community that has become a second home to him.
“I’ve been incredibly fortunate in my career and life,” Dreymon said during a press conference at Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles. “But every time I walk the streets of L.A., I’m reminded of how many people are suffering in silence. This is about doing my part to help create real, lasting change.”
The donation will be directed toward a coalition of nonprofit organizations, including Union Rescue Mission, The People Concern, and LA Family Housing. These groups will use the funds to expand shelter availability, create supportive housing units, and fund mental health and addiction recovery services that address the root causes of chronic homelessness.
The actor, who has previously supported causes related to veterans and mental health, said the issue of homelessness has become especially important to him in recent years. Dreymon explained that he has volunteered privately with local shelters and outreach programs over the past two years, getting to know people impacted by homelessness on a personal level.
“What struck me most was how easy it can be for anyone to fall through the cracks,” he said. “It’s not just a housing issue — it’s about broken systems, trauma, and disconnection. I want to be part of healing that.”
Dreymon also announced the creation of BridgeForward, a new charitable initiative aimed at providing long-term support for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. The organization will partner with local government agencies and community groups to offer case management, life skills training, and pathways to employment and education.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass praised Dreymon’s actions, calling his gift “a powerful example of how celebrities and public figures can use their influence for good.”
“We are facing one of the most urgent humanitarian challenges of our time, and Alexander’s contribution will help thousands of Angelenos find hope, dignity, and a way forward,” said Mayor Bass.
Advocates working on the frontlines of the crisis echoed that sentiment. “This kind of donation doesn’t just fund beds and meals — it funds futures,” said Christine Margiotta, CEO of The People Concern. “We are deeply grateful for his commitment.”
Fans across social media also responded with admiration, applauding Dreymon not just for his roles on screen, but for his leadership and generosity in real life.
As Dreymon continues to explore new acting and producing projects, it’s clear that he’s also focused on creating a meaningful legacy off-camera. With this donation and the launch of BridgeForward, he’s stepping into a new role — that of advocate, humanitarian, and changemaker.
