Legendary Irish rock band U2 has announced a massive 2025 Global Tour to mark their astonishing 49 years together, promising a breathtaking celebration of music, unity, and the band’s unparalleled legacy. Titled “U249: One World, One Sound,” the tour is set to span six continents, kicking off in Dublin this July and culminating with a historic three-night finale at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
In a surprise livestream from Windmill Lane Studios, Bono, flanked by The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr., spoke emotionally about the journey:
“Forty-nine years ago, we were just kids with guitars and dreams. This tour is our thank-you to every fan who’s walked this road with us. One more time around the world — loud, proud, and together.”
Tour Highlights Include:
- 49 cities selected to represent each year of the band’s career
- A career-spanning setlist, from early hits like “Gloria” to modern anthems like “Invisible”
- Innovative 360° stage design dubbed “The Halo,” inspired by the band’s iconic “Claw” from their 2009 tour
- Guest appearances rumored from artists influenced by U2, including Billie Eilish, Coldplay, and Hozier
Notably, the band will also release a special anniversary album, “49: Reflections,” featuring reimagined versions of fan favorites, rare unreleased tracks, and collaborations with global musicians.
Fans and critics have erupted in excitement across social media. Within 20 minutes of the announcement, #U249 and #OneWorldOneSound were trending globally. Longtime fan Samantha Reid tweeted, “This isn’t just a concert — it’s history being made. U2 forever.”
The tour also carries a philanthropic dimension. Proceeds from select shows will support the band’s long-standing initiatives with (RED), Amnesty International, and Music Generation Ireland.
