Joey Logano clinched his first win of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season in a dramatic overtime finish at the Würth 400, held at Texas Motor Speedway on May 4. This victory marked his second career win at the 1.5-mile Fort Worth track and the 37th of his Cup Series career, tying him with Bobby Isaac for 23rd on the all-time wins list.
Starting from the 27th position, Logano navigated a race filled with multiple cautions and lead changes. The turning point came with less than four laps remaining when he overtook Michael McDowell, who had been leading after a restart on lap 245. McDowell’s hopes were dashed when he crashed into the wall shortly after being passed, paving the way for Logano to maintain his lead through an overtime restart and ultimately secure the win.
The race, originally scheduled for 267 laps, extended to 271 due to the overtime finish. Logano crossed the finish line 0.346 seconds ahead of Ross Chastain, with his Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney finishing third. Kyle Larson and Erik Jones completed the top five.
Reflecting on the victory, Logano acknowledged the challenges of the season, stating, “The sport changes so quickly. It’s crazy how you can just ride these roller coasters.” This win was particularly significant as it followed a disqualification from a top-five finish at Talladega Superspeedway the previous week due to a missing spoiler bolt.
The 2025 Würth 400 was the 11th race of the NASCAR Cup Series season, featuring 16 cautions and numerous lead changes. Carson Hocevar secured the pole position with a qualifying time of 28.175 seconds, while Kyle Larson led the most laps during the race
With this victory, Logano not only adds another win to his impressive record but also gains momentum as he continues to defend his NASCAR Cup Series championship title.
